Shop Laundry Hampers By Type

Choose from natural materials and woven styles, with options to suit different spaces, sizes and everyday needs.

Wicker Laundry Hampers

A popular choice for a natural, relaxed look. Our hampers are woven from natural reed and palm rather than willow, keeping them light and gentle on clothes.

Water Hyacinth Laundry Hampers

Known for their chunky natural weave, water hyacinth hampers have plenty of character and work particularly well for larger loads.

Tupia Laundry Hampers

Tall, coiled reed hampers with leather handles, combining practical laundry storage with a distinctive handmade finish.

Seagrass Laundry Hampers

Naturally textured and understated, seagrass hampers bring a relaxed feel to bedrooms, bathrooms and other living spaces.

Rattan Laundry Hampers

With their classic woven finish and sturdy structure, rattan hampers are made to stay upright and handle everyday laundry

Doum Palm & Elephant Grass Hampers

Strong natural fibres make these hampers a practical choice for larger designs, particularly in utility rooms and busy homes.

Bamboo Laundry Hampers

Lightweight and practical, bamboo hampers offer a simple natural look that works well in bedrooms and bathrooms.

Why buy your laundry hamper from us

Most laundry hampers on the UK high street are plastic, polyester or machine-pressed. Ours are the opposite, and the difference lasts for years.

Every hamper is woven by hand over days, coil by coil, by a skilled artisan. A machine can copy how that looks; it cannot copy the hours in it, and it cannot make two the same. That is the quiet luxury of a handmade piece: when you buy one, that exact hamper is yours and no one else’s, and when it sells it is gone for good.

There is no plastic anywhere in the range. Natural plant fibre throughout, leather handles stitched on by hand, nothing synthetic to crack and split its way to landfill in three years. You are buying storage that finishes a room rather than something you hide in a cupboard, and you are backing the makers who wove it, because every order keeps that skill in paid work.

It comes with the reassurance you’d expect from an established shop: secure checkout, and a 4.79 rating from independently verified customers who’ve bought and lived with these pieces.

What size laundry hamper do you need?

Buy one that is too small and it fills in two days, then the washing lands on the floor beside it. Work back from how often you actually run a wash.

If you’re…ChooseHolds roughly
One person, or kitting out a bathroomSmallAbout one washing load
A couple, or furnishing a main bedroomMediumAbout two washing loads
A family, or filling a utility roomLargeThree loads or more

A standard UK machine load is around 40 to 50 litres of loose laundry, so divide a hamper’s litres by about 45 for a rough load count. Every product above lists its exact size and capacity. Before you buy, measure the gap at its widest point and take off 5cm so you are not wedging it in, and if it sits under a shelf, measure the height with the lid on and allow a centimetre or two either way, since these are handmade.

How to Choose a Laundry Hamper

A laundry hamper is one of those things people buy once, keep for years, and quietly regret if they get it wrong. A few minutes now saves that. Five things decide whether a hamper works for you:

Size, judged by your wash — not the room.

The most common mistake is buying for how a hamper looks in the corner rather than how much laundry your household actually makes. Work back from how often you run the machine: one person needs about a load’s worth, a couple around two, a family three or more. Too small and the washing ends up on the floor beside it.

Lid or open top.

A lidded hamper keeps the wash out of sight, which matters in a bedroom or a bathroom on show. An open one is quicker to fill and lighter to carry, which suits a utility room where nobody’s looking. Neither is better — it depends on the room.

Material, for weight and wear.

This is where handmade earns its place. A plastic hamper is light but cracks and looks cheap; a solid wooden one lasts but is heavy to move full. A handwoven natural-fibre hamper sits in the sweet spot: light enough to carry upstairs with a full load, strong enough to last for years, and good-looking enough to leave on display.

Breathability

Damp towels and gym kit turn a sealed plastic bin musty within a day. A woven hamper lets air move through it, so fabric dries instead of stewing — the practical reason natural fibre beats plastic for anything that goes in slightly wet.

Where it has to fit.

Measure the actual space before you fall for a hamper. A slim or corner shape rescues a tight bathroom; a large open basket earns its keep in a utility room. Every hamper on this page lists its exact dimensions so you can check before you buy, not after it arrives.

Still deciding between two? Get in touch — we’ll talk you through which hamper suits your room and your wash.

Which natural fibre is right for you?

Each fibre suits a slightly different job, so it is worth a moment before you buy.

Reed is light, smooth and finely woven, which makes it the easiest to lift when full and the natural pick for a bedroom or a lidded hamper. Seagrass is soft and textured with a calm, coastal look that settles into most rooms. Water hyacinth has a chunkier, more characterful weave that carries a large family hamper with real presence. Doum palm is stiff and structured, so it stands upright on its own and takes a lid cleanly. Elephant grass is the toughest of the lot, coiled thick and strong for big open baskets in a utility room. And sisal, spun from the agave plant and the same fibre used to make rope, is the hardest wearing when a wet towel is part of daily life.

Where your laundry hamper will live

In a bedroom, a lidded hamper at the height of a chest of drawers reads as furniture rather than a chore. In a bathroom, the open weave handles humidity far better than a sealed plastic bin, so long as you keep it off the wet floor by the shower. In a utility room, go large and open, where capacity matters more than looks. And in a nursery, a light natural hamper with no hinges and nothing plastic is safe for a child to move and gentle in the room.

Delivery and returns

Every laundry hamper on this page ships free anywhere in the UK, with free returns if you change your mind — we’re London based and send straight to your door. Because each piece is handmade, yours is dispatched as soon as it’s ready and we keep you posted along the way. EU delivery is available too, with postage and any duties shown at checkout.

Looking after a handwoven laundry hamper

Dust it with a dry brush or a vacuum on a low setting, working along the weave. Lift the odd mark with a barely damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry it straight away. Never soak it, because standing water is the one thing natural fibre will not forgive. Wet towels are fine for a day or two, but empty the hamper and let it air rather than leaving damp washing sitting in it, and give the leather handles an occasional wipe of conditioner to keep them supple. Treated this way, a handwoven hamper stays good-looking and useful for years.

Who makes them

Handcrafted Home is run from London by Noman Khan, on one belief: the things you live with should be made by hand, not stamped out by a machine. Our laundry hampers are handwoven from natural plant fibres by skilled artisan weavers, and we bring them to the UK through supply partners who work directly with those makers. We do not own a factory and have never claimed to; we buy from the people who do the weaving, and every order you place keeps that craft in paid work.

Laundry hamper questions, answered

Are these laundry hampers really handmade?

Yes, every one is woven by hand. That is why the weave and colour shift very slightly across a single piece, and why no two hampers are ever identical.

What size laundry hamper should I buy?

Small for one person or a bathroom, medium for a couple or a main bedroom, large for a family or a utility room. Every product lists exact dimensions and capacity so you can match it to your space.

Do your laundry hampers come with a lid?

Some do and some do not. Every product says clearly whether it is lidded or open, so you can choose whether the wash stays out of sight.

Can I use a woven laundry hamper in the bathroom?

Yes. The open weave lets air move through it, which suits a humid room far better than plastic. Just keep it off standing water on the floor.

Will damp washing make it smell?

Far less than a plastic bin, because air moves through the weave and fabric dries instead of sitting wet. Empty it within a day or two, and if it is lidded, leave the lid off for a few hours after damp washing goes in.

Can I use it for anything besides laundry?

Plenty of customers do — blankets, throws, toys, logs or general floor storage all sit well in a handwoven hamper.

Do you supply shops, hotels or trade buyers?

Yes, we take wholesale and B2B orders. Get in touch and we will talk through terms.
